Gas Retail - SA

Overview

The Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) provides retail market services to South Australia's gas industry participants.  AEMO delivers the infrastructure that provides 400,000 gas consumers with the ability to contract for the supply of gas with any licensed retailer of their choice, and facilitates efficient interactions between industry participants.

The South Australian Gas Market transitioned to AEMO on 1 October 2009 from the previous market operator REMCo.

AEMO's role is to provide retail market services to the gas industry. These services allow customers to contract for the supply of gas with the licensed retailer of their choice. There are four primary retail market services that AEMO administers. They are:

AEMO utilises the Gas Retail Consultative Forum - South Australia (GRCF-S) to inform and advise AEMO on matters relating to the making of the Retail Market Procedures (South Australia) and, where appropriate, in developing Procedure change proposals. This will allow AEMO to meet its obligations under part 15B of the National Gas Rules.

Participation in the GRCF-S is open to all registered participants and any interested stakeholders. A copy of previous meetings' minutes is available to industry and interested stakeholders on the Industry Information page below.
